Coach Core Phase 2 Applications Live

Originally launched in March 2020, Coach Core Leicester & Leicestershire has seen organisations across the area support young people through apprenticeships during the most difficult times they have ever faced. Building on the success of the first programme and with all original employers, plus more, signed up again to recruit in January 2022, it is sure to be another amazing programme.

What is a Coach Core Apprenticeship?

A Coach Core apprenticeship is designed to be of benefit to both you, the employer, and the young person you employ. It is a way for you to bring a young person into your workforce who you can develop and instil with the skills your business needs. For the young person it is an opportunity to step into the world of work whilst still getting the education and development that they will need to develop a full career.

At its simplest, the programme is a Level 2 apprenticeship, in Community Activator Coaching. Like all apprenticeships, that means the young person will be engaged approximately 30 hours a week. 80% of that time they will be part of your workforce where they can be assisting and running delivery sessions, working on office admin or other appropriate tasks. 20% of the time (typically 1 day a week) they will be in education – working with their tutor towards their apprenticeship qualifications.

Being part of the employer group has additional benefits including direct support from Active Together and additional funding opportunities and grants beyond the standard government ones available. Most importantly, you will be part of a group driving forward the opportunity for people representative of their communities to secure entry level roles in the physical activity and sports sector in Leicester and Leicestershire

If you are interested in supporting young people and utilising apprentices to develop your organisation, Coach Core could be what you are looking for. We have a diverse range of organisations offering 20+ opportunities already however, there is still time to get involved in phase 2.
