Team Leicestershire: U18 Boys Badminton Finals (2023/24)

Congratulations and thank you to every school that attended the Team Leicestershire U18 Boys Badminton County finals which were held at Babington Academy at the end February. The turnout on the night was fantastic, as was the quality of badminton on displayed by all teams. The competition was played in great spirit and there was some excellent sportsmanship and respect shown by all involved, well done!

To accommodate all 5 teams and ensure maximum playing time, the teams were split into a three team round robin format and a two school match. Two teams qualifying from the round robin, and one school from the match. The remaining teams played off for 4th and 5th places respectively. There was a combination of both singles and doubles matches, and with matches going up to 25 points, the players certainly had to be at their best and showed great resilience to compete throughout the evening. There were several particularly impressive rallies, with some matches being settled by just one or two points.

The final standings for the U18 Boys were:

1. Loughborough Grammar
2. Bosworth Academy
3. Leicester Grammar
4. Beauchamp
5. WQE
