From young children on stabilisers, through to adults going for long countryside rides, cycling is for everyone. Sick of being stuck in traffic? Cycling to work is also one of the easiest ways to fit exercise into your daily routine. There are also a number of cycling clubs around the UK, where coffee and cake stops are as important as the route you ride!

The sport has a lot of different disciplines - BMX, Cycle Speedway, Cycle-cross, Mountain Bike, Road and Track Cycling is an excellent form of physical activity for people seeking to improve their fitness and cardiovascular health.

Just hop on a bike and you're good to go. British Cycling, have information about clubs and racing tracks, and the Breeze programme for women cyclists offers a range of safe and sociable cycle routes for all abilities. If you don't have access to a bike there are hundreds of bike rental facilities across the UK.

Cycling UK Big Bike Revival Grant Programme

The Big Bike Revival 2023 is focusing on teaching skills and leading bike rides. If your organisation is able to deliver events that meet that criteria, you can apply for a grant of up to £2,000. Grants can be spent on equipment to expand capacity, venue hire for learn events or instructors to lead bike rides.

One-off £300 grants are available from Leicester City Council through the £300 cycle challenge for projects, rides, publicity, training or other events which help get more people on their bikes. Organisations in Leicester can also apply for Cycling UK grants of up to £3,000 for projects which help adults to start or return to cycling.
