Early Years Award Winners Announced

Considering it was the day of both the Royal wedding and the FA Cup Final, there was a great turn out for the Early Years Conference and awards with just over 110 delegates attending the King Power Stadium, Leicester.

The day started with an engaging key note speech from Ben Kingston-Hughes from Inspired Children, he had delegates laughing and shouting fish fingers at the tops of their voices. During the day delegates attended a range of workshops on In the Moment Planning, the importance of Purposeful Physical Play, Magical Imaginative Play, nutrition, emotional health and wellbeing and Risky Play.

The workshops were followed by the Early Years Awards, with the winners announced:

  • Most Active Setting Award: Pocket Rocket Pre-School (pictured)
  • Parent/Carer Engagement Award: Ashmount School EYFS Team
  • Physical Activity Champion Award: Daisy Chain Children's Nursery
  • Judge's Special Award: Fairfield Preparatory School

The award presentation was followed by the closing remarks and second key note speech; which was given by Laura Sanders from Little Stars Nursery who spoke to delegates about intergenerational work and how partnerships can be formed with local care homes.

One delegate shared her opinion of the day: "It gave my curious learning brain so much to research and use within my childcare career. It was well organised and the workshops I attended were informative and well presented"
