Team Leicestershire: U13 and U15 Boys Rugby Development Festival

On the 8th and 9th of February we held the first of the Boys Team Leicestershire Rugby Development Festivals in partnership with Leicester Tigers and County Schools Rugby Union at Quorn Playing Fields. These grading fixtures were a fantastic opportunity for young people to discover a level of rugby that would aid the development of their skills. The mixture of abilities helped to create a really fantastic atmosphere, and it was clear that the ethos of these festivals helped those participating to feel comfortable and supported.

18 different schools across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland took part over the two days, with teams well represented in both age categories (U13 and U15). The events were a great success, with everyone getting stuck in and enjoying themselves while developing their rugby skills. Thank you to the volunteers and Leicester Tigers for not only refereeing the games, but also coaching players to learn the rules and tactics of the game. We also had players coaching each other and great sportsmanship was on display, as teams intermixed to create better, more competitive games.

Many of the young people attending these festivals have already asked about opportunities to sign up to play rugby outside of school, which is brilliant, so if anyone would like further information regarding clubs in their area, please do get in touch.
