Leicester-Shire & Rutland School Games Summer Festival returns for 2023!

The School Games Summer Festival is taking place on Thursday 29^th June at Loughborough University. The Festival is delivered by Active Together in partnership with our School Sport & Physical Activity Networks (SSPANs) and will see over 600 young people from over 40 schools from across Leicestershire, Leicester and Rutland (LLR) taking part. 70 young leaders and volunteers will be supporting the running of the Festival.

There will be County Finals in Hockey, Netball, Sportsability and Quadkids Athletics, where the young people have qualified to compete to be crowned the Leicester-Shire & Rutland Champion in their particular competition.

A selection of participation activities will also take place, where young people have been selected to take part in an Inspire Celebration Carousel involving Skipping/Jump rope, Dance, Urban Rebounding and Martial Arts. There is also an Inspire Celebration Disc Golf event taking place, enabling the young people to try something new at the Festival.

An addition to this year is a new 'All Stars' Team which will be made up from the Leicestershire Virtual School, which is a local authority service whose role is to improve the education of children in care.

The Closing Ceremony will see the winners of each competition and Spirit of the Games winners presented with their Trophies, and 2^nd and 3^rd place acknowledged. All Teams will gain points on the day for their Partnership and these will be added to the School Games Medals Table, which will see the partnership '2022/23 School Games Champions' and 'Spirit of the Games Champions' crowned!
